Dr Who returns in Christmas Special 2012 – The Snowmen
Written by Chris
The episode is about the Doctor, still affected by the loss of Amy and Rory, battling The Great Intelligence. An alien-being with no physical-form and with a telepathic field, allowing it to pick-up on memories, thoughts and things happening around it and mimicking them. It becomes snowmen as a means to gain physical-form and aims to become more by combining ice and the structure of the human body. Resulting in the end of the world with this powerful combination.
Dr Who as usual
Even in a depressed state The Doctor still delivered his usual quirkiness through his behaviour and clever lines. The character Strax was also a nice compliment to have with him, their banter was very humorous, especially the jokes about Strax’s senses and lack of intelligence. Clara was also another highlight of this episode and her performance was as good as when she first appeared in the beginning of this series. She maintained the flirtations with The Doctor and kept him on his toes, even planting a kiss on him which definitely caught him by surprise. It will be good to see how The Clara from this episode, Oswin Oswald from the first episode and the modern day Clara are linked. So far she hasn’t officially become his companion yet since he has still to find the modern Clara.
Richard E. Grant was also an interesting bad guy, doing a very good job at that with his cold looks. Who could also forget Sir Ian McKellen as the voice of The Great Intelligence, bringing a nice theatrical tone and power to the voice.
